The teams listed below are invited to the 28th Randy Smith Journal Inquirer Greater Manchester Track and Field Invitational at 9:30am on Saturday, May 16, 2009. The meet is open to all high school age athletes competing with their invited high school team.

Facility:
The meet will be held at Manchester High School, Manchester CT. Manchester High School has an eight lane paved urethane surface. There are two jump pits inside the track. Two discus cages; Pole Vault and High Jump are outside the track. The Shot Put is located outside the track near the finish line. The Javelin uses a grass runway near the shot put circle.
Entry Procedures and Limits:
All meet registration is administered by MySportsResults.com Meet Management Services. There are no late entries or day of meet entries.
- Athletes may compete in 3 events; no boy/girl may be entered in more than three (3) events, including relays. Entry as an alternate in a relay counts as one of the athlete's three (3) events.
- Only two athletes per event per school, unless you have exceptional athletes in that event. Use Class M state standards as a rule of thumb.
Please email the Meet Director at meetadmin@mysportsresults.com for the additional exception entries prior to the 12-noon May 12, 2009 entry deadline with the School, Event, athlete first-last name and qualifying mark. - Scratches must be done before the first event starts. If an athlete scratches after the meet starts he/she is disqualified from the rest of the meet.
- JV Event Limits: 4x400 (one team) and 1600m (3 athletes per school)
Emergency Event Entry Replacement: Emergency changes due to injuries can be made after the event entries are posted with consent of Meet Director. Any requests must be submitted by the coach to the Meet Director Thayer Redman for approval prior to 6:00pm, Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Email to meetadmin@mysportsresults.com - must include school, coach's name, contact phone number, inured athlete first-last name, event, qualifying mark and then replacement athlete first-last name and qualifying mark in the SAME event.
Registration:
- Head Count Online Event Entry for Boys and Girls available at 04/27/2009.
- Head Count Online Event Entry Deadline is 9:00pm Eastern, Sunday May 10, 2009
- There are no late entries or day of meet entries.
Entry Fees - Checks:
- $150.00 for both boys and girls. $75.00 for one team.
- Entry Fee is due by Friday, May 3, 2008.

Meet Rules:
Coaches, please pay special attention to the following:
- To insure a fair and quality meet, CIAC rules will govern all events.
- The meet is open to all high school age athletes competing with their invited high school team.
- Uniforms must be worn during competition & must meet relay requirements.
- Absolutely no Frisbees, footballs, soccer balls, radios etc.
- Sportsmanship at all times to all people.
Implement Check: All implements must be checked in by an inspector prior to use in the meet. Violators will be disqualified for using implements that have not passed meet inspection.
Awards:
- The top 8 in each event will place & score for the meet (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1)
- Team Trophies: 1st and 2nd place team trophies. NEW this year three divisions Small, Medium and Large School Divisions, Boys and Girls
- Individual Events & Relays: Medals for 1st to 8th Place (over 500 medals awarded)
- Trophies: To outstanding performance in Track, and Field in both large and small divisions boys & girls, outstanding freshman performance for boys and girls. Trophies for selected individual events and a trophy for combined performance in both the triple and long jump (must be in both events) for boys and girls.
- Winning Varsity relay teams will receive special JI relay batons.
- Limited edition T-shirts will be awarded to winners in individual events and relay events and anyone who places (top 8) in 3 events or top two events 800 meters and over. This will also qualify you for the JI All Area Team. Athletes who qualify should wait for the All Area Picture taken at the end of the meet.

An Athletic Trainer is on site during meet.

Miscellaneous:
- Ken Grogan Alumni and Faculty Mile: Anyone who is an alumni, coach or faculty of the invited schools is welcome to compete in this special event. If more than eight women enter we will run two heats. Please have athletes register before race day by calling Matt Buckler at the Journal Inquirer 646-0500 or report to the track by 11:30 a.m. to register.
- Spectator Admission: $3.00 per adult
- T-shirts will be on sale during the meet for $12.00.
- A concession stand will be open.
