 Meet Information

Welcome:

ECC coaches and their teams are invited to the 2012 ECC Track & Field Championship on Saturday, May 19, 2012 starting at 10am. The meet is open to all ECC high school age athletes competing with their invited ECC high school team. Rain date, make-up date is Tuesday, May 22 at 2:00PM.

Facility:

The meet will be held at Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton CT.

The track is a 400m, 6-Lane track with six lanes for the straightaway. The Javelin will be contesting from a grass runway with all other jumping events on the track surface and concrete throwing circles.

Entry Procedures and Limits:

  • All meet registration is administered by EZ Meet Services in conjunction with Head Count Event registration. There are no late entries or day of meet entries.
  • Athletes can compete in any three events. No boy/girl may be entered in more than three events, including relays. Entry as an alternate counts as one of the athlete's three events.
  • Maximum of 2 entries per school per event unless more have met the least restrictive State Class Qualifying Standard. Any entry mark meeting or exceeding your schools state meet qualifying standard must be verifiable on the CIAC website.
  • Only one relay per event per school.
  • All hand timed entry marks shall first be rounded up to the slower one-tenth of a second and then a conversion factor of .24 must be added.

Registration:

  • Deadline for entry is 6:00pm Eastern, Sunday May 13th, 2012.
  • There are no late entries or day of meet entries.

Meet Rules:

Coaches, please pay special attention to the following:

  • To insure a fair and quality meet, National Federation, ECC & CIAC rules will govern all events.
  • The meet is open to all ECC high school age athletes competing with their ECC high school team.
  • Eight Places will be scored for all events.
  • The jury of appeals will be head coaches or their designees of all schools not involved in the protest.
  • Starting Heights: Pole Vault (boys) 9’ High jump (boys) 5’4”
    Pole Vault (girls) 7’ High Jump (girls) 4’4”
  • Implement Check: All implements must be checked in by an inspector prior to use in the meet. Violators will be disqualified for using implements that have not passed meet inspection.
  • 1/4” pyramid spikes or smaller are required except for the Javelin when contested on a natural surface.
  • In the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin all athletes will have their first legal performance measured. Subsequent performances will be measured only if they meet or exceed the following distances with boys listed first:
    M-F LJ-12’- 10’, TJ-30’-20’, SP-30’-20’, Discus-80’-60’, Jav-100’-60’

Awards:

  • Medals will be awarded to the top six (6) finishers in each event including relays.
  • 2 Tournament Championship Plaques. Team winners (Boys & Girls) of the championship meet shall be declared the “ECC Tournament Champions”.

Trainer:

An Athletic Trainer is on site during meet.
