 Meet Information

Welcome:

You are invited to the 4th Connecticut Middle School Track and Field State Championship on Saturday June 4, 2011. The meet is open to all middle school track and field teams in Connecticut.

Facility:

  • The meet will be held at the Rockville High School track at 70 Loveland Rd in Vernon CT.
  • We are moving to Rockville for one year due to the renovations to the Manchester High School track facility.


Insurance Waiver:

The meet is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. Each competitor must submit an Assumption of Risk / Waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian (not the coach) before they will be issued any bib number or be allowed to compete. It is the coach's responsibility to submit a signed document for each athlete they have entered. These must be presented on meet day, and be ordered alphabetically. After verification, the coach will receive their meet materials.

Entry Procedures and Limits:

  • All meet registration is administered by EZ Meet Services in conjunction with Head Count Event registration. There are no late entries or day of meet entries.
  • Athletes can compete in two events. No boy/girl may be entered in more than two events, including relays. Entry as an alternate counts as one of the athlete's two events.
  • Maximum of three entries per school per boys event and per girls event.
  • Only one relay team per event per school in all “A” events.
  • Unlimited relay entries in all “B” events.
    Enter a team in the 'B' event relays! There were many medals not awarded last year as events were not filled to capacity!

Registration:

  • Deadline for Intent to Enter online form is 11pm, Eastern, Friday, May 20, 2011.
  • Deadline for HeadCount event entry is 9:00 pm Eastern, Wednesday May 25, 2011.
  • Meet Fee Payment must be received by 12-noon, Friday May 27, 2011.
  • There are no late entries or day of meet entries.

Meet Entry Fee - Checks:

  • The entry fee is $5.00 per athlete with a total maximum of $140.00 per school
  • (Example 14 athletes entered - 5 x 14= $70.00… 50 athletes entered = $140.00 (cap rule)
  • There is a $50.00 Late fee for checks received after the May 27th deadline.

Meet Rules:

Coaches, please pay special attention to the following:

  • To insure a fair and quality meet, CIAC rules will govern all events.
  • Timing for all track events will be F.A.T. Please note that this year only, we will run trials, semi-finals and finals in the 100 meter dash and the 50 meter hurdles. The top 12 athletes from the trials advance to the semi-finals. The top 6 athletes from the semi-finals advance to the finals. Additionally, 7th and 8th place will be determined by the results of the semi-final heats. All other events are finals
  • Top 9 athletes advance to the finals in the shot put, long jump, and discus.
  • Coaches and non-participating athletes are not allowed near the finish line while events are in progress due to automatic timing in progress.

Other Rules - Implement Check: All implements must be checked in by an inspector prior to use in the meet. Violators will be disqualified for using implements that have not passed meet inspection.

Scoring: Team Scoring for all A events. Scoring will be 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Awards:

  • The top 8 finishers in each event receive a medal.
  • The top 5 teams receive trophies.

Doctor/Trainer:

  • An Athletic Trainer is on site during meet.

Miscellaneous:

  • Admission: $5.00 includes a 24 page program with all of the competitors entered by event. Kids under 12 free.
  • Food, drinks, candy will be available. Meet T- shirts and souvenirs will be sold. Personalized engraving will be available for a small fee.
